The days of a teacher spending every class behind a lectern aren’t behind us yet, but things are changing in America’s high school and college classrooms – and technology is helping support this change. According to CDW-G’s Learn Now, Lecture Later report, 69 percent of students want to use more technology in their classes as a learning tool, and they are asking for a greater mix of learning models, including hands-on projects, independent study and virtual learning. Learn Now, Lecture Later finds that students and faculty are rethinking how they use technology in the classroom, and they are looking beyond the standard applications to more interactive use. In fact, the study found that 76 percent of IT professionals say faculty requests for classroom technology are up, and that teachers are requesting everything from tablets to telepresence solutions. But the move away from the lectern is not without some challenges. In fact, 88 percent of teachers report that this shift may be difficult.
